The Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on March 2 that it will be reviewing the hiring records of 180 businesses in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee to determine if they are complying with employment eligibility verification laws and regulations.
According to ICE, the goal of the I-9 inspection program is to promote compliance with the law and to focus on auditing and investigating employers that are suspected of cultivating illegal workplaces by knowingly employing illegal workers.
